Our instructors are some of the most experienced, knowledgeable, and friendly folks in the industry—but it’s more fun to let you read their bios to see for yourself. They are highly trained and certified professionals with over a 1000 hrs of training in the Classical Pilates Method, plus other modalities in which make Kalijo Pilates instructors progressive professionals in the Pilates, health and wellness community on the BC Sunshine Coast. Passionate and curious, Kalijo instructors are committed to continuing education, incorporating complementary bodywork modalities and the most up-to-date research in the movement sciences into our Classical Pilates program.

Katherine Denham loves her morning miso soup in a mug, a homemade fresh salad from the garden, loose-leaf tea, and has an embodied movement practice with over thirty-five years of student-focused movement as an educator and teacher trainer. Katherine is the owner and creator of, as well as the driving force behind, Kalijo (Ka-lee-jo) Pilates. Dedicated to the principles of compassion, expertise, empathy, and trust, Kalijo Pilates is the accumulation of a lifelong commitment to learning an extensive process and represents everything Katherine has learned over her career as a dancer, choreographer, and movement teacher expert.

Cara is committed to helping her clients feel better, look better and move better with Pilates and self-care techniques. With over 20 years and thousands of hours of training and teaching behind her, Cara is able to address your particular needs and goals and design a unique wellness program for you. Her passion is helping her clients become empowered with grace, strength, and balance so that they can live life to their fullest potential. Cara has been a certified advanced Classical Pilates teacher for over 8 years and a Yoga teacher for 20. She is a certified Yamuna Ball Rolling Instructor, Hypopressive Level 1 Instructor, and a Bellies Inc. Core Confidence Instructor.

Cara has graduated from The Classical Pilates Masters Program at The Pilates Center.

Jennifer Helland - Yoga Instructor and Teacher Trainer

Jennifer is a yoga teacher, dancer, holistic nutritionist and lover of functional movement. With all of these skills combined, she creates unique movement experiences for her students that are described as foundational, intelligent and full of spirit.

Jennifer has been teaching for over 15 years and is on faculty at several yoga teacher training programs throughout Canada. She is sought out to share her expertise in asana, pre/post natal yoga and cueing methods. For Jennifer, yoga is the opportunity to arrive in the wonder of the body as it is, bearing witness to the ever-changing tides of thoughts, emotions, sensations and breath. It is time well-spent building a compassionate and loving relationship with one’s self, then turning outwards to bring compassion and love to community.

KATHERINE ROBERTS
Advanced Classical Pilates, Yoga E-RYT, and Gray Institute for Functional Transformation (GIFT), with specialties in Chain Reaction Biomechanics. Also certified in TPI, FMS, PRI, and CHEK Golf Biomechanics. Roberts is the author of two books focused on her highly effective performance and science-based methodology.

Katherine Roberts, founder of Human Performance Pilates™, a division of Katherine Roberts Human Performance for Sports™, is a leader in incorporating Pilates into her athletes’ strength and conditioning programming. As a multidisciplinary movement specialist, her clients, including those in Major League Baseball, value her expertise in Pilates, as well-evidenced by her 16th season working with MLB players. Her paramount goal is to help athletes and sports enthusiasts achieve maximum performance. Additionally, Roberts is the founder of Yoga for Golfers® (YFG) and has YFG-certified instructors in 24 countries who share her sought-after YFG methodology.

Registered Yoga Teacher and Advanced Classical Pilates Trainee with roots in contemporary dance.

She began teaching at sixteen, guiding gymnastics and dance for children in New Westminster, and has since shaped her path through yoga and the Classical Pilates method. For Serayha, movement is both a precise practice and a subtle conversation with the body, a space to explore strength, presence, and awareness. In her classes, students are encouraged to trust their bodies, move with intention, and discover the resilience and power that already reside within them.
