The Classical Pilates Method offers a progressive program to develop functional and balanced strength and flexibility. It is a system of movement that stimulates deep circulation and promotes a heightened sense of body awareness and more precise levels of coordination. This, in turn, helps people of all ages, body types, and levels of fitness heal from existing injuries, prevent future injuries, and reduce, or potentially alleviate, chronic pain. With a focus on the mind/body connection, Pilates will improve your stamina, strength, and flexibility, and consequently the efficacy of everything you do!

PERSONAL CONSULTATIONS

For beginners, a personal consultation is required (regardless of your skill level) to get you started and pointed in the right direction with 1-on-1 attention from a professional. Your fully certified Kalijo instructor will assess your understanding of the Pilates fundamentals and physical limits, and can place you in the appropriate beginner group class or privates.

PILATES EQUIPMENT CLASSES

The Reformer not only reforms and challenges the infirm but also reforms and challenges Elite Athletes. Using the Reformer restores a more youthful, mobile and healthy spine and body.

The Chair is more advanced because it is a smaller compact piece of equipment that challenges your balance in many ways. Strong dense springs and a single pedal are used to stabilize your hips and shoulder girdle. It’s the athletes choice.

The Tower is particularly good at preparing people to move into higher levels on all the pieces of equipment. It is very effective at preparing people for Pilates Mat work.

The Cadillac (for privates) is a premium piece of equipment in the Classical Pilates method, used for the rehabilitation of the infirm to the training of professional acrobats and dancers.

PILATES MAT CLASSES

Mat Pilates classes focus on stretching and strengthening your core, back, glutes, hips and upper body connection (your entire body). These classes are suitable for individuals in good health who do not have major back, shoulder or hip injuries. Classes range from Intermediate (levels 1-3) to Advanced (level 4-5) and are known to be the most challenging classes.

Pilates Mat classes are for Intermediate and Advanced level students.
