COMMUNITY

There is a saying “it takes a community to raise a child.”

I think “it takes a community to raise a human.”

At Kalijo Pilates we believe in seeing and meeting a student in the moment to offer traditional pilates that supports change in the body. These changes create freedom, ease, strength and flexibility to support one in all that they do, to do it BETTER!

Each day I feel a greater sense of commitment to how I share the Classical Pilates method with my colleagues, my students, my friends, and my family.  My commitment is to provide good wholesome, healthy movement, dialogue and a sense of “happiness as the first requisite to physical fitness”.

We also, listen, share and care deeply about how one is feeling in their lifestyle as a whole.

We help cultivate happier, healthy lives, one day at a time, one person at a time.  Helping people sleep better, walk longer, run faster, ride bikes while traveling the world, hearts fall in and out of love, people come off their medications, injuries are healed, new friends are found,  new life is welcomed into our arms and hearts, and we say goodbye to some with fond memories. All in all, we share in all of life happenings at Kalijo Pilates Studio.

Community is at the heart of what we share at Kalijo Pilates, it is a commitment and it is important as we grow and meet new faces, with the growth of the Sunshine Coast, I feel the expansion all around us.

I am blessed to be a part of this expansion in the community.

I get to watch trainees develop and experience the classical pilates method make change in their whole being.  Each step of the way, one student at a time, I see great things occur that tickle me deeply at the testimonials of how this method moves each and every human.

I am pleased to announce the Graduation of both Louise Motlock and Zoe Spry-White who recently finished their final exams in the Advanced and Intermediate Plus Teacher Training Programs.  Both students journeyed through their programs with focus and commitment that took them on a personal transformation, and now we welcome them into the next stages of their teaching and the doing of pilates at a higher level of understanding.  It was a long run and you both made it through. Congratulations to you both!

Outside of the studio, I would like to share with you an opportunity to join me to see a documentary film called Midian Farm.  Produced and created by my cousin Liz Marshall from Toronto, Ontario, she brings to the Sunshine Coast this coming Saturday August 10th at 2 pm at Ravens Cry Theatre in Sechelt.

This film is an intimate story featuring my family.  It shares with you where I come from. My parents history and some Canadian History from back East in Ontario… it is all about humans in community, how community can be created and how it can fall apart, yet, be moved to come together again over time.

I invite you to join me, my family and my community in this sharing event.

In Health and Joy,

Katherine and the Kalijo Team
